बुद्ध्या विनापि विबुधार्चित-पाद-पीठ!
स्तोतुं समुद्यत-मतिर्विगत-त्रपोऽहम्।
बालं विहाय जल-संस्थितम्-इन्दु-बिम्ब-
मन्यः क इच्छति जनः सहसा ग्रहीतुम्॥३॥
buddhyā vinā-pi vibudhārcita-pāda-pīṭha!
stotuṁ samudyata-matir-vigata-trapo'ham
bālaṁ vihāya jala-saṁsthitam-indu-bimbam
anyaḥ ka icchati janaḥ sahasā grahītum

हे वे जिनके चरणों के पीठ की सेवा देवता भी करते हैं! बुद्धि के बिना, बेशर्म होकर मैं आपकी स्तुति करने को तैयार हूँ — जैसे एक छोटा बच्चा पानी में चन्द्रमा का प्रतिबिम्ब देखकर उसे पकड़ने की कोशिश करे। ऐसा कौन कर सकता है — सिवाय एक बच्चे या मुझ जैसे के?
O you whose footstool is honored even by the gods! Without enough wisdom, I am still ready to praise you. It is like a child who sees the moon's reflection in water and reaches out to grasp it. Who but a child — or someone like me — would even attempt this?
