Naminatha

नमिनाथ

Naminatha — “the bowing lord” — is the twenty-first Tirthankara, born in Mithila (an ancient capital of the Videha kingdom, also the birthplace of Mallinatha) to King Vijaya and Queen Vaprā.

The name nami (he who bows) is sometimes connected to a tradition that even kings of opposing armies bowed before him in his pre-renunciation kingship. Lañchana is the blue lotus (nīlotpala). Mokṣa at Mt. Sammed Shikhar.
