Where Mahavira spent fourteen rainy seasons. Major site for both Jainism and Buddhism. Also kalyanak site of Munisuvrata.

Rajgir (ancient Rajagriha) was the capital of the Magadha kingdom and one of the most important early centers of both Jain and Buddhist activity. Bhagavan Mahavira delivered his first sermon on Vipulachal hill here. The 20th Tirthankara, Munisuvrata, had his garbha, janma, tapa, and jnana kalyanakas in Rajgir. The five hills around Rajgir each carry Jain temples.

How to reach

Rajgir has its own railway station. From Patna: ~100 km. Bus connections from Bodhgaya (~70 km) and Nalanda (~12 km).
