84-foot rock-cut monolithic statue of Bhagavan Rishabhanatha — one of the tallest stone idols in the world.
Bawangaja is best known for the colossal 84-foot (52 hands, "bavan gaja") rock-cut statue of Bhagavan Rishabhanatha, carved into a granite hill. The statue dates to around the 12th century. Eleven temples surround the colossus on the Chulgiri hill, and the site is a Siddhakshetra in the Digambara tradition.
